Cady/Mommy Days

As you know, both Cady and Hadley are in school. Cady attends Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Hadley only goes 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yes, I purposely split them up like that. The reason was not to make me crazy. It is embarrassing how many mornings I have to stop and think, “Who’s day is it?!?!” But I did it so that I could have extra time with Cady.

Next year she is going to be in Kindergarten 5 days a week, all day long. The past 2 years, less attention has been on her because she has had to share it with Hadley every single day. While Hadley got a couple of days a week to have me all to herself. So this last year before Kindergarten, I wanted to be able to work in some Big Girl time.

We have tons of plans. We want to do things that aren’t possible when there is a toddler tagging along. Pedicures and pottery painting. Etc. Unfortunately, with all the things that needed to be done regarding the move, she’s mostly been my errand buddy. We have been able to hit the library up about once a week, which she loves.

But today we had big plans. MINI GOLF! There is a little course just down the road from our ‘hood that we pass every day. She always talks about how much she wants to go. So today we did.

Not so surprisingly, Thursday morning is not a busy time at the mini golf course. So we had it all to ourselves.

Daddy maybe should have been present for the first golf outing. I’m definitely no expert. But that’s pretty picturesque, huh? The form, the background… Augusta, here we come 😉

After a great lunch date at Pizza Hut, someone is napping and hopefully dreaming of our future Cady/Mommy dates.

September – Cell phone pic style

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an actual update post.

The girls are still loving school and all that is going well. School 5 days a week is tough! I can’t even imagine what it will be like next year when I actually have to get Cady there on time. (although she is normally in class around 8:30 now). I never really got how school was so hard on parents, but I’m learning.

Labor Day weekend The Bears played Ole Miss in Oxford. The past few years they’ve been on the road that weekend and we’ve been able to catch a few games with some friends from college. Everyone talks about “tailgating” in The Grove at Oxford and how you have to experience. So Poppa and Nana and PawPaw John were so awesome to watch the girls for us that weekend, so we could go to Oxford.

It was a great time. 5 of us drove down together and had a really good time catching up and talking on the trip down. We were 10 miles away from our destination when we got a flat tire.

Luckily the boys were able to put the donut on quickly and we were able to get to the house we rented.

We had a great weekend with some great friends. The house we rented was awesome.

Tailgating in the Grove was interesting. Ole Miss fans had chandeliers and flower arrangements and big screen tvs in their tents. Definitely something to see. Unfortunately the Bears didn’t win even though we went into the half up on Ole Miss.  We still had a great time.

The weather here has been amazing the last few weeks. That means there has been quite a bit of work going on in the yard by Jason and a lot of playing by me and the girls. There is a Sno Cone truck that drives around and comes through our ‘hood about once a week. He tracks his location on facebook, so we are able to find out when he will be by the house. The girls were waiting on him the other night.

We are still loving our neighborhood so much. There are two lakes that the hood is built around and there is a bridge across each lake. The lakes are stocked and the girls like to walk down to the bridges and try to see fish. Jason is going to have to take a certain 4 year old fishing soon

I’ve been feeling crafty and needed something for the front door. Pinterest to the rescue. I made a couple of the super popular burlap door hangers

Last weekend I turned 30! Jason was taking me out to dinner so Grandma and PawPaw Wayne came to hang out with the girls and spend my birthday with me. Saturday morning I was able to go get my “30 year old haircut” (Not really, I just needed it cut off)

I believe we cut off about 8 inches of hair. It needed it and I feel so much lighter!

After being bratty for about a week about my birthday dinner, I showed up and it turns out Jason and Jenny threw a little surprise get together for me! It was so sweet and so unexpected (Should I be concerned that they can lie to me so convincingly? 😉 ) I really appreciate it.

It was a small group due to sick kids and lack of child care and pre-made travel plans. But I love that these folks were here for me and all the wonderful birthday wishes I got. 30 is pretty great so far.

Unfortunately, Cady is under the weather right now with a little cold. Hadley had it last week, so hopefully we are done with it. This weekend we are planning on tailgating for the conference opener for the Bears and having a great time. That’s September so far in cell phone pics.

Show Us Your Life – Beauty Picks

Kelly’s Korner is doing SUYL on favorite beauty products, and I love me some beauty products so I decided to play this week.
First things first, I’m no hair or makeup guru. I love trying new products, but I have a pretty simple beauty routine.

I’m definitely much more daring and experimental when it comes to hair. I figure it’s just hair and it will always grow back, so I don’t get too attached to anything. But I do know that taking good care of it it important. When I was working in the salons, you would have NEVER caught be buying something off a Walmart or Target shelf. But I also got a salon discount. Now I am using the Organix products and I bought them at TARGET. Man, I love that place. I change up shampoo and conditioner a lot, but this is what I’m using currently

But when I find a product that I love, I am fiercely loyal. And right now I am loving the Organix Light Moroccan Argan Oil. I’ve never tried the “official” Moroccan oil that is all the rage, but I’m thinking about it. If it is better than this stuff then I will have shampoo commercial hair. LOL

For makeup, I had the same makeup routine since 2006 or 2007 until just a few months ago. I was using the Bare Minerals and it was working for me. But I felt like it was so messy. I couldn’t get dressed before I put on makeup and I would have to wipe down the counter when I was done. Then this whole BB Cream rage came about and I was intrigued. So I did some research and visited Ulta and came across Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm.

One of the main reasons I chose this one over so many other brands was that it comes in different shades. Everything else just seemed WAY too dark for my skin tone. But the Vanilla Glow was perfect. And I swear it changes as your skin color changes. I bought it in the Spring and I was white. Then I was outside a lot this Summer, so I was concerned it would be too light. But it has seemed to adjust to my skin tone. Another thing I love about it is how light it is. I put on a super thin layer and it gives me the coverage I want. Nothing heavy or dark, but enough to even things out. I just dust some loose mineral powder over it and I’m good to go.
My other new discovery, beauty wise, is my new lip gloss. I read a beauty blog post about teeth whitening because who doesn’t want their teeth to be white. Of course, they talked about white strips and toothpastes and all that stuff. But she mentioned lipsticks and lip glosses that make your teeth appear whiter. Apparently, if they have a blue undertone they will make your teeth appear whiter. One of the suggested ones was L’oreal Colour Riche Nude Touch Gloss. I couldn’t pass up something that was a couple of bucks and that I could pick up at the grocery store.

And I love it. It has enough to color to make me feel pretty, but not enough to look “done up”. Just shiny and natural.

Those are the beauty picks I am loving currently. What are your newest favorites?
