Happy 38 Months Cady Cupcake!
Right now we are on a huge pretend kick. I knew kids would play make-believe a lot but I guess I never realized how elaborate her scenarios would be completely out of the blue. She doesn’t need anything other than her imagination to entertain herself for hours. It also entertains Jason and I. I love watching her little mind just work and work.
She is also on the dreaded “Why?” kick. There has to be a reason for everything. Each answer breeds a new question. It can be very tiring, but I really try to remember that she genuinely doesn’t know what she is asking about. She is using my answers to learn about the world, so I just take a deep breath and answer the 16th “But why?” for the day.
She is still doing really well with writing her letters. She has things with straight lines (A, E, F etc) down really well. She is also doing quite well with simple curves (C, G, U etc). It is the letters that have a mix of the two that seem to stump her. B and D are difficult for her. She is getting them down though.
We have also started working on the sounds of the letter. She has had Leap Frog Fridge Phonics for over a year now and that has really helped learning the sounds each letter makes. It is neat to hear her learn these because it is a huge step toward reading on her own.
We have such a good time with her. She is crazy and off the cuff and totally unpredictable, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We love you Cady Cupcake!
