Hadley’s arrival

We had anticipated that Hadley would arrive on Tuesday the 16th. This had been the plan since late September. Monday, the 15th, I went to the dr and there wasn’t a lot of progress. So I planned to go in that night to start the induction process. A few hours before we were to leave for the hospital we received a call that labor and delivery was too busy with women who were in actual labor, so we would have to wait. We were pushed back to come in Wednesday night.

Wednesday came and things were looking good. I had begun to have some contractions, but nothing consistent or timeable. About an hour before we were to head for the hospital we received another call saying that again, labor and delivery was too busy and we would have to wait. I was devastated. I made Jason go out for a walk around 10 pm that night. We walked A LOT. And I started having even more contractions. I was really hoping something would happen and I would still get to go in that night. But no such luck.

Thursday we were told that they would be trying their best to get us in that day. Around 2pm we finally received the call to come in to start the induction. We pulled into the hospital parking lot at exactly 3pm.

We check in and at 4pm my dr checked me. I guess the walking did some good because I had gone from a 1 to a 3. She had planned to break my water for me, but Hadley, like Cady, was way too low and she couldn’t reach it. So she started my pitocin and planned to come back. At 5pm my water broke on it’s own.

At this point my contractions started coming on pretty strong. At 6 I called the nurse for my epidural because the contractions were wearing me out. My 6:30 the epidural was started and at 7 I was feeling very good.

Jason and I decided to relax and watch some tv. Around 8:30 the nurse came by to readjust Hadley’s monitor because she had dropped even lower and she wasn’t getting a good reading. She said she would come back around 9 to check again because she figured it would be soon.

At this point I wasn’t feeling ANYTHING. I could occasionally tell when I had a REALLY strong contraction but only because there was some slight pressure. At 9 the nurse came back. She started to check, but didn’t even have to. It was very obvious that Hadley was ready. We needed a dr and quick! The dr had just scrubbed up for a c-section but had to be rushed in to deliver Hadley. I told them that I wasn’t going to be able to feel to push. but they said it wasn’t even necessary. A few minutes later Hadley was here.

It was the easiest thing ever. Everything went perfectly. I’m feeling good. Hadley is doing wonderfully also.

Now the pictures I have currently.

For these two precious gifts

Hadley Elizabeth arrived Wednesday, November 18th at 9:12 pm. She was 7 lbs 3 oz and 19.75 inches long. And perfect.

It has been an adjustment with 2 kids. She was several days later than we had originally expected. So I was alone with them a little sooner than I thought I would be. But we’ve made it through. And we are looking forward to getting back into a routine. I think we all need it.

Cady is a great big sister. She is loving helping with her and wants to hold her all the time.

Finding time to blog is going to be tough for a while. I forgot how demanding it is to have a newborn.

I have some more pictures but they are on my camera. I will get them and Hadley’s birth story as soon as I have another opportunity to blog. For now this is what I have on the computer.

Gone Fishin’

A year or two ago Cady got a little fishing pole for a holiday or birthday. She definitely wasn’t ready for it at the time so we stuck it away in a closet. Jason made the mistake of mentioning taking her camping and fishing recently. We have heard about it pretty much non stop. The camping trip might have to wait a few months, but Jason decided it was time to teach her to cast her fishing pole

He tied a caribiner to the line and they went out in the backyard to practice.

She actually got the hang of it really well.

I think she is all ready for her fishing trip.

39 Weeks

How Far Along: 39 Weeks

Size of baby: She is probably between 7.5 and 8 lbs close to her full length of 20-22 inches long. About the size of a mini watermelon

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Exactly 40 lbs

Maternity Clothes: All maternity clothes

Gender: Sweet little girl

Movement: She is still moving a ton. But no kicks or anything like that. She just has room to squirm and that is about it. Every so often a random body part will poke out

What I miss: At this point I miss NOT being pregnant.

Sleep: I easily had the worst night of sleep my entire pregnancy last night. I think it was a combination of everything but I ended up only sleeping for a few hours all together.
Symptoms: I’ve been having lots of Braxton Hicks. Hopefully we are getting primed and ready.
Cravings: Milk and cereal. This was a big craving throughout my pregnancy with Cady, so it is comforting for it to make its reappearance

Best Moment this week: This week has been a low point in the pregnancy. I don’t really have much to pinpoint as the best

What I am looking forward to: Just meeting this baby.

So this blog is real life. I really write about what is happening in our lives and what I feel. And throughout this pregnancy I have actually really enjoyed it. I’ve had very few days of not feeling well. I haven’t had much to complain about. But this has changed. I really didn’t think I would have to make this post today. I was supposed to be giving birth today. But instead I got a call because labor and delivery was too full and I got pushed back. I’m pretty much just over it at this point. I’ve remained upbeat and positive this entire time. And part of that was because I had a light at the end of the tunnel. I had a date that I knew would be the end and I would have a sweet baby to take home. And things didn’t work out that way. It is extremely frustrating and discouraging. So I am pregnant for at least a few more days. And while I am grateful for having such an easy time the previous 9 months I am also SO SO SO ready to just be done with being pregnant.

Ok Vent over. Since I am fully counting on this being my final belly shot I made a collage of most of the belly pics from the beginning. Just so everyone can see just how large and in charge I have become

33 Months

Happy 33 Months Cady Cupcake!

Sorry I have been MIA and that this post is so late. We’ve been preparing for the new arrival which could be any day now!

We are so excited and Cady really is as well. I know that she has no real grasp on the actual changes that are headed her way. But I do know that she is definitely ready to see what this is all about. She has been asking tons of questions. I know that she is really going to be a big help. She is so independent and loves helping out all that she can.

We love you Cady Cupcake!

Gobble, Gobble

This might (will definitely) sound strange, but one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving beyond the family time and the food are hand turkeys. They’re really cute. I’ve really liked them since a friend told me of the time he took a final that he was unprepared for. He drew a hand turkey on the final and wrote, “Gobble, Gobble.” Ever since then hand turkeys have kind of cracked me up. So I couldn’t pass up Cady making a Hand Turkey plate at the local paint-your-own-pottery place.

It was a storytime event, so they heard a story about Hand Turkeys and then made the plate.

We were supposed to have a couple of friends join us, but it ended up on being Miss Charlotte and Julee

I am learning to give up control and the need for perfection. I tried to direct and give advice, but I let Cady go on this one (that’s why the name is a little off center)

Cute, huh?

38 Weeks

How Far Along: 38 Weeks

Size of baby: She is probably between 7.5 and 8 lbs close to her full length of 20-22 inches long. About the size of a leek

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Around 40 lbs

Maternity Clothes: All maternity clothes

Gender: Sweet little girl

Movement: Tons of movement. But it is PAINFULLY obvious (to me, at least) that she is so cramped. She is definitely out of room and everywhere in my abdomen

What I miss: Missing a little sleep, but I better get used to that šŸ˜‰

Sleep: The pregnancy insomnia has set in. A few times a week I will wake up around 2 or 3 and not be able to get back to sleep for a variety of reasons
Symptoms: I’ve been having lots of Braxton Hicks. Hopefully we are getting primed and ready.
Cravings: Milk and cereal. This was a big craving throughout my pregnancy with Cady, so it is comforting for it to make its reappearance

Best Moment this week: Saying that I am officially ready. We have everything needed. Bags are packed. Carseat is installed. We are all set

What I am looking forward to: I have my dr’s appt this week. It should be an informative one as I *should* get my first check and have an idea about where we are. I can’t wait to meet her!

For posterity

I don’t have any pictures today. We’ve had a pretty low key week. Dance class, school and a couple of outside activities, but for the most part we’ve just been hanging out. So I thought since I don’t have anything pressing to blog about I would take the opportunity to write down some stuff I’ve been wanting to remember. Now that Cady is talking she says some of the most hilarious things. Things that I don’t want to forget. So I want to record those here to have to look back on.

* When she wakes up every morning she opens her door and her hair is usually wild and she is very sleepy eyed. She will say, “I awake, Mommy.” but most of the time the phrase will go up in the end and make it sound like she is asking a question. Like she isn’t actually sure she is awake.

* She is really cuddly in the morning. I’m normally up before her and waiting in the living room on weekdays. But on weekends she comes and climbs in bed with us. She will normally watch some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while Jason and I work to wake up.

* After a short time of cuddling she will tell me “I hungry, Momma.” but she is ALWAYS hungry. I swear she has a hollow leg. If I ask her what she wants for breakfast she will normally say fruit snacks. Sometimes she will say a banana. She always has to have a napkin even if she doesn’t use it. Breakfast is usually one of her best meals.

* She likes to “get ready” because she knows that means we are going somewhere. She is not a homebody for sure. She likes to be on the go.

* One of her favorite things is to get her teeth brushed. She calls her tooth brush a “brush teeth” and she is getting really good a doing it herself. Jason and I make sure to give a helping hand but she does a pretty good job.

* She is super independent and is all about getting dressed and undressed by herself right now. Yesterday for school she actually got dressed completely alone. IĀ  helped tell her to turn things around or put shoes on the right feet. But she did top to bottom all on her own.

* On the same note of independence, she uses the potty all by herself now. If I try to go help her she will hold her hand out and say, “I go all. by. MYSELF.” or if I’m already in there she will sure enough tell me to leave. It takes probably double the time for her to do it alone, but she does it. From start to finish. Even washing and drying her hands. Jason and I joke about it because she normally ends up with everything she took off back on backwards and inside out. Very consistently.

* One of the best times is night time. I love being with her day in and day out, but I love it the most when it is the three of us here together. Jason doesn’t get to spend a ton of time with her so he does the bedtime routine every night. She likes to take showers now. It is the only way to wash her hair and some nights she requests them even when we don’t wash her hair. It is another thing she likes to do alone (rest assured, the door is open and we are a mere few feet away). Jason will get her in her “jamas” and read her a book. After her book is read, she rolls over and looks at you and says so sweetly, “Talk with me a second?” She likes to take that time to talk to Jason about her day. She will tell him about dance class or school or she what we have done. It is easily the best part of the night. I get to be a little part of it by eavesdropping. I love hearing their little conversations.

I just wanted to record these before our lives get a little more hectic and I forget. This is the greatest age and I don’t want to forget a single thing.

Sprinkle for Miss H

My fabulous group of friends got together and threw me a “sprinkle” to celebrate this little girl. A sprinkle isn’t as big as a shower, but it is just (maybe more) as appreciated.

The girls did such a great job and I feel so blessed that they wanted to do this for me.

Ashlee made this adorable diaper cake and found that cute little cupcake photo holder that matches the nursery perfectly

We didn’t get pictures of all the guests, but there are a few

Tiffany and sweet, little Ella were there

Becca and Kendall

Me and my dear friend Lisa

And I got to hang out with sweet, sweet Maggie who belongs to Laurie. Maggie seems to be over the paparazzi šŸ˜‰

Susan made these amazing cupcakes! Most of you know I am very serious about my cupcakes. These honestly rivaled Sprinkles. They were unbelievable. Susan needs to go into business.

I got so many wonderful things that we needed. Diapers, bottles, blankets… just such great gifts. As usual, Becca outdid herself on the cute clothing and accessories. She made these adorable matching Christmas shirts for the girls. I love them (I’m definitely into matching/coordinating them)

Plus those cute little bloomers and a couple of monogrammed bibs.

I cannot fully express how grateful I am for my sprinkle, but mostly for the friendship these ladies have provided me. Thank you guys so much!!!

Final Pumpkin Patch Visit

Last week we met up with some friends at their Kids In Action class for Bring A Friend Day. The kids had a great time. Becca put some pics up on her blog because she is always so good about taking pics.

Afterwards we walked across the street to the pumpkin patch to meet some friends before lunch. I think the kids were pretty much over the pumpkin patch at this point since we had all been 2-3 times.

Cady decided this large pumpkin would make a good seat.

We got Kate, Cady and Kendall together for a pic

Kendall and Cady took a snack break together (it was so hot that day! look at their little rosy cheeks)

Then we added Ellis in to the mix so we could get all the girls in there. Kate doesn’t look too thrilled to be crammed on that bench with the others.

But we did get a cute smile
