Slide, Slide, Slippity Slide

We decided Cady was big enough to go down the slide by herself at the park a little while ago.

She was slightly hesitant. You can see the concern in her face

But she decided to give it a go.

She changed her mind about halfway down…..

She was ok. No tears, even. But it might be a little while before we try the big slide again. We have been on the lookout for a toddler slide and swing set, but apparently used ones go quick on Craig’s List and similar sites.

Oh and sorry about the vacation I took from blogging. Cady hasn’t been feeling well and I haven’t been feeling well. But we are back. I had this post in the reserves, so I’ll get caught up soon. Promise.

And the winner is……

I used the Random Number Generator at to pick the winner.

That means that Rebecca C who said “Earl Gray soap sounds nice.” is the winner.

Stay tuned though because I am working on my next giveaway today.

Cady started this hilarious new noise that, for some reason, made me think of a dinosaur. I’ve been trying to get it on film, but the problem was that I had to make the noise first. That definitely wasn’t getting put on film and put on the internet for all eternity. Finally, I’ve gotten her to do it on demand with just saying “dinosaur noise”

Happy 13 Months Cady Cupcake

Happy 13 Months Sweets McGhee!

Cady at 13 Months:

I don’t have any official measurements since we haven’t been to the doctor in the past month, but I do know that she has hit a growth spurt. I know this because things that have been out of reach are now within her grasp. She definitely takes full advantage of this.

She is on a really great schedule right now. She wakes up between 7:30 and 8 am. She eats breakfast. We play and laugh and learn. Around 10 we usually have quiet time. That consists of reading or watching one of her Olivia cartoons on the DVR. Between 11:30 and 12 we have lunch and then play for another hour or so. She goes down for her nap at 1 pm. She wakes up around 3 pm and has a snack. We play some more until Daddy gets home between 4 and 5 pm. We eat dinner around 5:30 or 6. More playing until bedtime. The bedtime routine starts between 7 and 7:30 depending on her mood.

Its so nice to have a really predictable routine. She is definitely like her mother in that she is a creature of habit.

Speaking of food, she is eating pretty much everything now. She still only has 8 little chompers and no molars at all. Every once in awhile she will have a Gerber Graduate meal because they are so easy for on the go. Otherwise, she eats exactly what we eat. She is also the leftovers clean up crew. We also order her her first kids meal at a restaurant this weekend. She had a chicken tender and steamed broccoli at Applebee’s on Friday.

She is really starting to communicate and respond to us when we communicate. She asks what everything is. “Dah!” and a point means “What is that?” She responds reasonably well to commands. Last week, I saw that she had taken her socks off. I asked her where they were, and she pointed toward the entryway and said, “Dah.” (in this case, “Dah” meant There). So, I asked her to go get them and bring them to me so I could put them back on her. She headed that direction. I’m almost certain she would have brought me the socks, but she got distracted by the overhead light.

Its so amazing to see her learn new things every day and to see what a neat little person she is becoming!

New Moves

Cady has added some new dance moves to her repertoire. It started with the bounce. Then she added in the arms. And now introducing: The Twirl.

At the end of this one, you can hear her start to “sing”

I hadn’t taken my camera to Kindermusik class in several weeks and Cady was just looking too cute in her springy, green dress. I know I said it was a video week, but I got some fun pictures this week.

When we arrived her friend, Emery, greeted her.

They were bothing looking great in green

Ms. Sandi had the scarves out and those are some of Cady’s favorite things

We did some of Cady’s favorite Kindermusik activities this week. The kids got to play under the parachute.

Cady got pulled around on a beach towel

And then a new one. Bouncy balls. I think this is going on the list of favorites for sure

Next week is “spring break,” but we are hoping to maybe make it down to the Rodeo and see some animals if the weather is nice.

Rocking out…

Or something like that……

Cady has this little elf… or snowman…. or bear…. I don’t know what he is, but she got him for Christmas and he plays “Jingle Bells.”

She will bring him to me to press his button to hear him “sing.” This is what happens. (This may not be as funny to other people, but Jason and I crack up about it)

It could not get any more silly

Last week was a week of pictures. This week will be a week of videos.

I have these elastic headbands that I use when I wash my face. Somehow, Cady got ahold of one and carries it around the house. I put it around her head, Rambo style, and she loved it.

Then I noticed it had slipped down over her eyes. I took a picture, but it didn’t even come close to conveying the silliness.
